Children's Books
Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes- This book is about a kindergartener who loves her name until her
first day of school when the other girls begin to tease her. The story
teaches children that it's hurtful to tease people who are different,
and on the opposite end, that it's ok to be original.
- This book includes 99 multicultural folk tales with anti-bullying themes that teachers can tell to their students. It also has activities to do with your class as well as ideas for bulletin board displays.
- This book shows children that sometimes bullies are bullies because they feel like no one is nice to them, so why be nice to anyone else. Simple acts of kindness can be powerful things.
- This book is a fun and casual way of showing young children that families come in all shapes and sizes. It is an excellent first step in teaching about diversity and accepting differences.
- This story is great for families to read together. It shows young children that sometimes things aren't as scary as they seem.
